Written in Camelot

The Plot

5th Century Camelot

Middle Ages
It is written of a time when the son of Uther Pendragon had drawn a sword from a stone to prove his worth as king of Camelot. Just a boy of fifteen, he had the responsibilities of the kingdom thrust upon his shoulders. He did not take these responsibilities lightly.
Shortly after he was crowned the High King of Camelot, Arthur set to work building Camelot into a formidable fortress settled on both the coast as well as land rich with produce. The kingdom was able to trade fish and fresh produce with neighboring realms to keep thriving in this ever growing realm.
Ten years have passed since King Arthur pulled the sword from the stone. Ten years of peace and quiet have been gifted to the proud, noble yet humble king of Camelot. But there's darkness that looms just at the horizon. To the south, the ocean waves beat against the shore of Camelot, a river leads from the village to the ocean where the island of Avalon rests. Avalon is said to hold many wonders not yet discovered by man. A Fae folk exists solely on the island, forever watching over the kingdom while Druids lurk in the
shadows of the Forbidden Forest just east of the castle. Peace is slipping away while shadows lurk just beyond the castle walls.
This is the story of Arthur and his people, Written in Camelot.
Welcome to Written in Camelot(WIC)! We are a fantasy based, Arthurian era roleplay settled in the somewhat debated mythical land of Camelot! There's several stories of how Arthur's life unfolded, but here we get to create our own!

General Rules

OOC RULES.
1. WIC does not support separate character accounts. Upon registering please keep your username sweet and simple and all characters to one central account. We do not want to see any BoBBieJOEs24942's.

2. When you join you are promising to take part in all required polls, nominations, activity checks, or anything that has been deemed required to partake in.

3. Respect is highly valued here toward both member and staff member. Multiple accounts of disrespect toward anyone will result in either a temporary or permanent account ban.

4. We don't want to see a obscene use of profanity. There's a point where it gets tacky and unneeded. 5. No spamming, advertising other sites, or arguing in the cbox.

6. Bullying of any kind will not be tolerated.

7. Don't pester others. Begging does not help anything.

IC RULES.
1. No God-modding or powerplaying. If you have to question whether or not you should do it, don't do it. If you do not have permission to do it, don't do it.

2. There is no word count minimum. However please do your best to keep a good word count ratio when threading with others. Quality over quantity works in more cases than you may think.

3. Upon joining, members have 5 free characters slots. If you wish to have more, you will need to buy a Character Slot in the site store. However if a staff member feels that you are creating more characters than threads, either a creation ban will be placed on your account or you will be asked to discard a character. This goes for member activity as well. It is not fair for active members wanting to use a face claim that has been idle for weeks.

4. Always keep the gender and role ratio in mind when creating a character. This goes for your own character group as well. If we notice a greater difference in gender count, bans will be placed until the lesser number catches up.

5. Please keep in mind when you create characters, try not to have all Fae, or all Druids, or all Knights. Keep a variety!

6. When it comes to powers, your Fae is allowed to use up to two elements at a time, however can only specialize in one! Also think about what elements they are using, may it be Fire, don't pair it with water or wind. Earth and Water will most likely go together, however. And you risk losing EPs when using two powers like that.

OOC Quests, Tournaments and Events.
1. Before your character can participate in quests, tournaments or Events, they need to train for it! A post has to be made in the training board, practicing their preferred skill.

2. For Quests, your character will have randomly generated stats that he/she has to fulfill in order to complete the quest and earn the rewards! Once you've reached 15 posts in your Quest, you have completed the quest and a Fae, the Lady or the King and Queen will post your reward in your thread!

3. There is a 50/50 chance that your character will be injured. If this is the case, your character will have to purchase remedies or produce from the market in order to gain HP back and participate in another quest or tournament!

4. For nobles of all ranks and peasants, they will be given quests suited for their rank to complete in order to gain more points for whatever category. Like Knights' quests, they stipulations will be randomly generated and have to be met in order to complete the quest. If these aren't met, or they do something scandalous, or harmful towards others, they will lose points and have to gain them back via church, King or prayer!

Basic Guidelines

We realize things are a bit more complex here at WIC, and we hope that you're having fun touring the site! If you have any questions, please refer to this guide before asking the administrators, because I guarantee this guide will answer any questions you may have! If not, ask an administrator and we'll answer it! We'll even add that information to this guide!

0.1 Character Creation - Each character is unique. Upon creation, think of the application as the basis of your Character's story that'll be unraveling here on WIC. Keep it era accurate as much as possible. there are no cars, indoor plumbing or technology like we have today. Keep in mind, women had a lower rank than men and not as much freedom as a man. Peasants are Peasants, Nobility is nobility. If you need help building a 'pedigree' for your character, we have some information that'll help you with that!! Yes, you are able to use real life people of this time! (480's AD).

0.2 Points - We have a guide just for this topic, but to sum it all up: When creating your character, stat points are called different things for different classes. Knights have Health Points (HPs), Nobility and Peasants have Social Points (SPs) and Fae and Druids have Elemental Points (EPs). When creating your character, be sure to clarify their class and stat points!! This is important! Points are earned and deducted based on your characters story and how it unfolds. If your character, a Peasant, does a good deed, they'll get more SPs. If your knight wins jousting tournaments or quests, they'll earn more HPs slots. If your Lord or Lady does something that gets them recognized by the king himself, they earn more SP. And if your Fae or Druid does good deeds, they earn EP as well!! All of this earning, and what are they good for? When going on quests, using their abilities, or interacting at social events, your character may lose points. If they are injured, knights loose health, if they use their abilities, your Fae or Druid will need time to recharge, and if something scandalous happens or your Commoner/Noble does bad deeds, they'll lose Social points. It's just like a society!!

0.3 Quests, Tournaments & Social Events - These are both good and bad! If your character partakes in a Quest or Tournament, they can gain more stat points! These points (HPs) will determine who wins what and who loses and how badly. More health, the more likely you are to win an event! For Social Events, if a Lady marries a Lord of high standing, they'll inherit a portion of those points. If a Lady marries below her rank, she'll lose points. If either go to a gala, or an event held by the king, it can go either way! Fae and Druids gain through quests as well! Helping their charge helps themselves!

0.4 Recharging Stats - If your knight gets injured, or your Lord/Lady does something scandalous, or your Peasant is caught stealing, then you'll lose stat points. BUT THEY CAN BE RECHARGED! If a knight gets injured, he can go to market and purchase produce to regenerate his health! If a Noble or Peasant get caught doing something naughty or criminal, then if they can afford it they can go to market and hire a lawyer to fight for their cause. Nine times out of 10 they'll win!

0.5 Marketplace & More - The marketplace is a lovely little area of the village where characters may go and purchase goods for themselves! If you get a license for your character, you could possibly sell produce to other characters and earn money for your own pocket!! Each produce has different affects on your character. It can add health, add social points, popularity and more. EX: Your character is a fisherman. Say he wants to get a license to sell his produce in the Market place. He will need to buy a net from the Thatcher, but the thatcher needs a license to sell his products. When a thatcher gets his license, he'll sell his net to the fisherman who fish and then get a license to sell their fish at market, then profit from that. Same goes for smithies, tailors, weavers, farmers, etc! Even the KING has to buy produce!

0.6 Training for Tournaments & Events - Before a knight can participate in a tournament and before a noble can be invited to an event, they have to train! All you have to do is post with a trainer, then you are awarded points for that post, and then you're able to participate! Only those invited to the Tournaments and Events may participate!
